Southeast Regional Coastal Monitoring Programme
Coastal geomorphology, geology and coastal defences
The coastline of England and Wales is characterised by a wide variety of geological and geomorphological types. Certain systems are less vulnerable to change than others. As a general rule those systems that are less dynamic need less monitoring data to support management. Systems such as barrier beaches, saltmarshes and soft cliffs are thought to be very vulnerable to climate change.
