Wave parameters are recorded using a Datawell Directional WaveRider Mk III buoy. The buoy was deployed on 18 January 2013, at which time the magnetic declination at the site was 1.8° west, changing by 0.18° east per year.

12/09/2019 The buoy has been redeployed
08/07/2019 The wave buoy parted from its mooring but was recovered. It is currently tied up in Whitby Harbour. 
17/12/2018 A replacement buoy has been deployed
26/10/2018 The buoy came off its mooring but found its way to Whitby Harbour. It is currently tied up in the harbour in calm waters.
