Brighton and Hove Council installed the met station on the cliffs in October 2011.

The pressure sensor tide gauge was first installed by Brighton Marina in July 2004. It was last surveyed on 12 January 2006.

28/05/2016 The tide gauge was badly damaged during a thunderstorm
Met station stopped sending data around 1100 this morning due to a mechanical failure. Replacement parts have been ordered.
