Note that these are real-time data and are not quality-controlled. Long-range graphs are plotted from a randomised subsample of half-hourly data.
|Wave buoy location||50° 41.63' N 002° 45.06' W|
|Approximate water depth||10 m CD|
|Approximate spring tidal range||3.5 m|
|Storm threshold||4.2 m|
Wave data are measured using a Datawell Directional WaveRider Mk III buoy (image courtesy of Fugro EMU Limited). The buoy was first deployed on 1 November 2006, at which time the magnetic declination at the site was 3.0° west, changing by 0.15° east per year.
|24/05/2018||The buoy was redeployed|
|06/05/2018||The mooring parted during recovery for service. The buoy will be redeployed at the earliest opportunity|
|20/04/2012||Questionable data being received from buoy. Replacement buoy deployed on 03 May. Original buoy issue being investigated|
|28/04/2011||The buoy has kindly been recovered by the Harbourmaster; the top section of mooring had been cut through. The buoy will be checked and re-deployed tomorrow|
|28/04/2011||The buoy is adrift and is currently 600m southwest of its location|
|13/12/2010||The shore station has been re-located back into the Harbour Master's office|
|01/12/2010||The signal from the buoy has become intermittent. This may be due to the extremely cold weather and a watch is being kept on the situation|
|10/12/2008||Buoy swap due to battery failure|
|26/06/2008||Waveview software not working. Met station not sending data.|
|16/05/2008||Scheduled service (brought forward following report by Harbourmaster of heavy bio-fouling of buoy)|
|24/01/2008||Buoy serviced and re-deployed|
|10/01/2008||Buoy came adrift and beached to the east of West Bay. It was recovered, undamaged, with the kind assistance of the Environment Agency operations team.|
|10/01/2007||At 02:00 this morning, the wave buoy came adrift from its mooring, the cause of which is as yet unclear. The buoy beached to the east of West Bay and has now been recovered and will be redeployed as soon as the weather permits.|
|09/01/2007||The wave buoy has come away from its mooring and has been recovered. It will be re-deployed as soon as possible.|
