Note that these are real-time data and are not quality-controlled. Long-range graphs are plotted from a randomised subsample of half-hourly data.

Wave data are recorded using a Datawell Directional WaveRider Mk III buoy. The buoy was first deployed on 1 January 2007, at which time the magnetic declination at the site was 2.9° west, changing by 0.15° east per year. The first image shows the buoy buried in Chesil beach.
The shore station is kindly hosted by Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy
||Data stream appears to have stopped due to network works in the shore station area.|
|05/11/2015||There appears to be an issue with the receiving antenna at the shore station affecting the data feed for Chesil and Weymouth wave buoys. The site will be visited as soon as possible to rectify the issue.|
|29/05/2015||No data currently as the sailing centre at Weymouth are undetaking work on their internet connection and have switched off all power to their server room where the shore station is located.|
|19/02/2014||The antenna had broken off the damaged buoy, which has been recovered for further tests; a replacement buoy has been deployed|
|15/02/2014||The buoy stopped sending data last night; the problem does not appear to be at the shore station end and efforts to locate the buoy are underway|
|19/06/2013||Buoy serviced to fix GPS|
|24/07/2012||Scheduled service, buoy replaced|
|24/11/2010||Scheduled service. New mooring deployed|
|05/07/2009||Power surge has caused computer failure in the shore station.|
|04/06/2009||Scheduled service, hull swapped out for battery change|
|15/112008||Phone line found to be unplugged at the shore station.|
|06/11/2008||Scheduled service, GPS change and investigation of suspect mooring.|
|12/01/2007||The wave buoy has developed a fault, which is under investigation by Datawell. Only the GPS position and sea surface temperature are correct.|
|09/01/2007||The wave buoy has come away from its mooring and has been recovered. The buoy will be re-deployed as soon as the faults previously identified have been fixed.|
